Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has sold three UK wind farms for £173.6m. The sites, at Dalswinton and Minsca in Scotand and Slieve Divena in Northern Ireland, have a total capacity of 96.8MW.

All went to renewable power generator Infinis - owned by Guy Hands' private equity firm Terra Firma.

Last May, SSE sold Ardossan in Scotland to the same company for £53.8m.

SSE finance director Gregor Alexander said: "While we are planning long-term growth of our wind energy portfolio throughout the UK and Ireland, we have always said we will use disposals and acquisitions to optimise our wind farm portfolio, and this sale is consistent with that.

He added: "This is a good deal for SSE and Infinis."
