P272 - Eon announce they will not be renewing any contracts after November 5th

Eon have informed us that they will not be renewing any contracts for maximum demand  (MD) meters, profile classes 05-08 that are due for renewal after Nov 5th 2015. This is down to the changes announced earler this year that concerns all MD meters (P272). These are changing to half hourly meters in April 2016 and will affect charges around the metering costs for all of these meters. There are an estimated 155,000 meters across the UK that this change will affect. Most energy companies are putting things in place to accomodate the changes and how they will affect business users. This move from Eon is the first time we have seen a supplier refuse to accept even a renewal contract due to P272, hopefully it will remain that way but if others join the ranks, we will let you know.
